Meet the Team

We are thrilled that you are interested in an education at Church Farm School. Statements that we hear over and over from our alumni include “Church Farm School is home” and “Church Farm School is family.” We aim to be all of these things to our students, and from most accounts, we are succeeding in this mission.

  • Lisa Smoots

    Lisa Smoots, Director of Admission, works with the Admissions team to generate new student inquiries to the school. She also plays a key role in representing the school and its mission of supporting underserved young men from around the world to the broader community and facilitating Church Farm School’s relationships with feeder programs and schools. Prior to CFS, she was Director of Admission and Enrollment Management at The Cathedral School of St. John the Divine in New York City where she has worked since 2010. She has previously served other independent schools: as an admission officer and manager at Princeton Day School and as a financial officer at The George School. She received her B.S. in industrial engineering from Northwestern University and her M.S.Ed. in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. She has served several corporations as an engineer and financial analyst. Her email is lsmoots@gocfs.net.
  • Marvin Garcia

    Marvin Garcia, Assistant Director of Admission, is a 1999 graduate of Church Farm School. Marvin received his B.A. in public policy from the State University of New York at Albany and has recently earned a masters in public administration from Cheney University. Marvin has worked with both the New York City and Philadelphia Departments of Public Health, focusing on health issues that affect young people. In 2010, he returned to CFS as a member of the cottage faculty and Admission Office. Marvin is enthusiastic about his work assisting deserving young men with the opportunities that Church Farm School can provide. His email is mgarcia@gocfs.net.
  • Barbara Scudder

    Barbara Scudder, Admission Office Coordinator, arrived at CFS after having worked in Student Wellness and Career Development at Immaculata University. Prior to that, she played a vital role in Philadelphia’s financial community. She began her career at The Vanguard Group, where she went on to become Assistant Vice-President of Marketing and later, Vice-President of Marketing for The Swarthmore Group, a leading Philadelphia investment group. Barbara is a cum laude graduate of Immaculata University, mother, wife and active community and church member. She enjoys birdwatching and is a member of the Scottish Terrier Club of America.   • Kevin Garcia-Ramirez

    Kevin Garcia-Ramirez, Admissions Committee/Interviewer, is a Prep for Prep alum  originally from New York City with personal boarding school experience. Kevin attended four years at a prep school in New England before studying history and education at Gettysburg College. Since then Since graduating in 2012, Kevin has had multiple roles in the field of youth work and education, and has coached, tutored, taught and been an advisor. Kevin hopes to bring this diversity of experience to Church Farm School and offer opportunity for young men to learn and grow in this environment.
  • Dylan Davies

    Dylan Davies, Admissions Committee/Interviewer, joined the school's Cottage Faculty and Admissions team in 2017 after graduating from Bucknell University with a BA in geography and history. At Bucknell, he worked as a Mellon Fellow, conducting historical research on population change. He was also selected as a Governor’s Intern for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts where he researched programs for the Department of Transitional Assistance. Dylan believes that CFS provides a unique opportunity for motivated students to achieve their potential. He is a member of the Admissions Committee and also coaches JVB Golf and Varsity Lacrosse. Dylan is currently pursuing a Masters in Education at The University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education, specializing in Enrollment Management and Policy.

The Church Farm School is an independent boarding and day school for boys in grades 9-12 located in Exton, PA. Founded in 1918 to provide an excellent education to young men from limited means, Church Farm School continues to fulfill its mission of educational opportunity. The school offers a challenging college preparatory curriculum and an exceptional level of personal attention, with class sizes averaging between just 7 and 12 students.
