Academic Support

CFS is committed to the success of our students in learning as well as in life. The school therefore provides a variety of programs and options to promote academic confidence, foster scholastic achievement and realize respect for self and others.
At Church Farm School, we are dedicated to developing a robust educational program that inspires our young men to be resilient, independent and curious learners with advanced study skills to apply to their learning across all disciplines. The Academic Support department develops and implements programs and services designed to meet the needs of scholars. The Academic Support department also develops individualized academic support plans based on scholars’ needs and discusses the implementation of those plans with scholars, their families and faculty.

The Academic Support department aims to help scholars develop an understanding and acceptance of their learning styles, self-advocacy and a true belief that they are capable of academic success.

The Academic Support Department offers the following opportunities for all scholars to receive additional support:
  • Academic Skills Development: The Academic Support department will meet with scholars individually and in small group settings to teach strategies for organizing work, managing time and improving study skills using effective learning strategies.
  • Evening Study Halls: Upon recommendation or scholar request, scholars can join smaller, faculty-led study halls to receive more guidance when completing homework assignments, studying for assessments or working on projects.
  • Peer Tutoring: Guided by the Dean of Academic Support, CFS’s peer tutoring program provides a leadership opportunity for scholars to support fellow scholars in evening study halls. scholars are encouraged to engage with peer tutors for assistance in any academic subject and are paired accordingly.
