Assistant Head of School Chris Seeley Hired as Head of School at St. Thomas Choir School in NYC

October 9, 2020
Dear Members of the Church Farm School Community,
With warm greetings, I write this letter to announce and, on behalf of the entire Church Farm School community, celebrate the appointment of Mr. Christopher A. Seeley, CFS Assistant Head of School and Director of Academics, as the next Head of School for St. Thomas Choir School in New York, NY. Mr. Seeley will assume this exciting opportunity and professional responsibility on August 1, 2021, after completing his eighth year serving, supporting and helping lead Church Farm School.
During his tenure with us, Chris has devoted his talent, time and energy to improving Church Farm School and the people associated with it in profound ways. First and foremost, he is a gentleman of deep faith and exemplary character, and he embodies our school’s core values in a manner that has inspired colleagues and students alike to do the same. Second, his steadfast commitment to sound learning and the rigorous standards required to promote individual and collective growth has offered our community an advanced, more robust and engaging academic program. His leadership of the curricular program and the professionals who are responsible for its implementation has provided redefined, richer and more collaborative coursework complimented by the skill development, resources and schedule required in a modern college preparatory environment. It is hardly surprising, then, that our teachers and students were effectively able to transition smoothly to an online learning environment this spring when the pandemic first hit. Third, with his wise and visionary support, the school’s reaccreditation and redefinition of the profile of a CFS graduate have widened our appeal to prospective students and college admission officers alike. Increasingly, Church Farm School is a sought after and desirable educational destination. Simply put, CFS is better thanks to Chris Seeley’s devotion to our mission and the young people it will continue to serve.
A search committee will be called together to assist me in the important work of identifying and hiring a worthy successor. I anticipate a thorough national search supported by experienced independent school consultants and I look forward to sharing more details about this committee and its work soon.
Meanwhile, we have the remainder of this academic year to continue our good work together and we thank God for the pleasure of the warm and abiding friendship we share with the Seeley family. I am confident in saying that Chris, his wonderful and equally caring and talented partner Staci, and their children Crawford and Camille, have the full support and abiding affection of the community as they prepare for this next step on their life’s journey. We wish them Godspeed.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Reverend Edmund K. Sherrill II
