An Evening of Music for Soprano, Cello and Piano Featuring Gary Gress and Guest Artists

Last evening, CFS Choral Director, organist and pianist Gary Gress was joined by acclaimed soprano Courtney Ames and Emmy-nominated cellist Jeffrey Solow for "An Evening of Music for Soprano, Cello and Piano" in the school's Chapel of the Atonement. The concert exposed the CFS community and friends in attendance to some of Mr. Gress' favorite pieces, including Richard Strauss' "Zueignung," "Der Rosenband" and "Four Last Songs," which he recalls first hearing in the film "The Year of Living Dangerously." Ames, a soprano soloist from New Jersey with many regional orchestras, accompanied Mr. Gress on these works in their native German language.

Also featured was "Sonata in G Minor for Cello and Piano, Op. 19" by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Jeffrey Solow, a professor of cello at Temple University whose many recordings have been nominated for Grammy awards, brought his impassioned playing to the crowd with Mr. Gress.
