On March 21, we lost a longtime advocate of Church Farm School - John "Jack" Kistler II, former teacher and principal, father to current teacher John Kistler and father-in-law to current teacher Art Smith.
Jack started his career at Church Farm School in 1968 as a math teacher after working at his alma mater, Episcopal Academy. During his 26-year tenure, he served as English and math teacher, principal, athletic director, admission director and academic director. In a recent interview, Jack said, "The kids at Episcopal had everything and knew everything. These kids had nothing. I felt I could do so much more here."
"Jack was a stalwart servant of CFS. Few souls will have had as much impact on the success of this mission as Jack and while we mourn his passing we also give thanks to God for having the benefit of his friendship and devoted service to all we care to uphold in our own generation. Our work today is honorable and noble because he helped make it so." - The Reverend Edmund K. Sherrill II, Head of School
