Founder's Day

On April 1, 1918, Church Farm School opened its doors to five young men from West Philadelphia who slept on straw bedding in an old cannery. One hundred and four years later, the school offers a comprehensive boarding and day school program to 180 young men in grades 9-12 on 150 bucolic acres. Chicken coops, dairy barns and a printing press have been displaced by makerspaces, tech labs and a Center for the Arts, but the school’s founding mission of educational access and its core values of respect, responsibility, integrity and brotherhood continue to inform our work.
