Greg Thompson joined the Church Farm School community in 1998, starting his tenure as a residential faculty member. In 2001, he became a full-time member of the teaching faculty while coaching baseball and golf. In 2007, he succeeded John Kistler as the Director of Athletics.
During Greg’s tenure, he achieved numerous accomplishments that helped bring the Church Farm School athletic program into the modern era. Greg oversaw the transition of CFS athletics to the PIAA, establishing the standards necessary to compete against other Pennsylvania schools and qualify for district and state playoffs. He also guided the school through its transition to the Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL) and led the gym refurbishment project.
Greg expanded athletic opportunities for students by introducing new sports to CFS, including lacrosse and bowling. He was the school’s first golf coach (four seasons), and, as varsity baseball coach for 14 seasons, he led the team to BAL and Tri-County league championships. Beyond his many programmatic accomplishments, Greg was deeply committed to mentoring young coaches, modeling leadership and sportsmanship, and being a fierce advocate for our students.
