Ziting Liu, Undecided

Ziting Liu came to Church Farm School from China. “Since the first year I came here, I understood the difficulty of getting to know about another culture. I was afraid of being isolated or living in stress every day. However, after my first try out with the wrestling team, I learned this place is not only for building strength in my heart but also for pursuing the common goals with my best friends. There is nothing you cant deal with if you wrestle,” he says. Says his coach and teacher, Art Smith, ““Ziting’s continued pursuit of excellence is great to watch. He is a dedicated and disciplined student who sets high goals for himself.”

In addition to being a wrestler, cottage prefect and member of the History club, Ziting is thankful for the encouragement he has received at the school. “In the past four years, I have experienced a lot with my friends and teachers. I really appreciate everyone who has taught me and guided me toward my dream. Especially thanks to my friend Mrs. Barr who enlightened my dream of being an artist. Next year I am most excited to get out of my comfort zone and meet new friends in college, and to embrace the opportunity to interact with the teachers and students around the world.” While Ziting has not yet selected which school he will be attending, he has been admitted to numerous schools in Canada, where his family has recently moved.

Says his advisor, Vernice Veranga-Mulcahy, “At first, Ziting seems like a quiet, reserved kind of guy but once you get to know him, you realize that he's quiet because he is observing and listening to everything. He is actually wonderful to talk with because he really does listen to everything you say and he has fascinating things to share about his own culture and what that means to him. Ziting is an all-around excellent student but his hidden talent lies in his artistry. His drawings are so realistic and the way he coordinates things like colors, textures or even just the arrangement of things on his desk expresses his creative mind. I have no doubt he will continue to excel in college academically and hope that he is able to continue to be creative, no matter what field he chooses to pursue.”
