AP Spanish

Dear Students,

I am glad that you have chosen to take Advanced Placement Spanish Language and Culture Course and I look forward to working with you to achieve the course goals for the upcoming year!

The AP Spanish Language course differs greatly from students’ previous Spanish classes.  The students take a much more active role in improving the skills they have acquired during their first three to four years of study. All students are encouraged to practice Spanish in a variety of settings, through a variety of tasks. The four main skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking) are stressed on a regular basis using a variety of authentic activities.

Success on the AP Spanish Exam
The AP Spanish Language Exam is a 3-4 hour skill-based exam testing the level of mastery that you have acquired in integrating the modes of communication in the Spanish language. Achieving a score of “5” on the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam demands critical thinking and acute integration of the all the aforementioned skills in Spanish in authentic real life situations.
