Honors Algebra 2

For the upcoming 2019-2020 Academic Year, the Honors Algebra II course at Church Farm School will begin in the textbook at Chapter Three (entitled Linear Systems and Matrices), and then onto Chapter Five (entitled Polynomials and Polynomial Functions).  This will allow a considerable amount of additional material to be covered at the end of the year in preparation for whatever math course a student chooses to take beyond Honors Algebra II.  It is therefore the expectation of the CFS Math Department that Honors Algebra II students will return to school in September 2019 with a thorough understanding of the important topics from Chapter One (entitled Equations and Inequalities), Chapter Two (entitled, Linear Equations and Inequalities) and Chapter Four (entitled Quadratic Functions and Factoring) of the Algebra II textbook.

Items to touch on specifically:
CHAPTER 1:
  • Evaluate and Simplify Algebraic Expressions
  • Solve Linear Equations
  • Solve Linear Inequalities
  • Solve Absolute Value Equations and Inequalities
CHAPTER 2:
  • Slope
  • Write Equations of Lines
    • Graphs
    • Slope and Point
    • 2 Points
  • Linear Inequalities
  • Absolute Value Functions and Transformations
CHAPTER 4: Quadratic Functions and Factoring
  • Graphing Quadratic Functions in Standard Form
  • Solve by Factoring
  • Quadratic Formula

Students will be given assignments through EdPuzzle and during the first week back they will be tested on the materials.  Work will be turned in throughout the summer and students may reach Miss Jordan through email cjordan@gocfs.net with questions or concerns.
