The Church Farm School is pleased to announce that Dr. Andrew C. Wicks will speak to the CFS community on Saturday, October 12 at 11 a.m. in the school’s Founder’s Pavilion in conjunction with Parents Weekend. Wicks is an esteemed ethicist and Ruffin Professor of Business Administration at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business who examines theoretical and practical implications of ethics that encourage us to ask questions about how we live and operate in the world – as individuals, organizations and as a society.
Wicks’ other leadership roles across the school include director of the Olsson Center for Applied Ethics, academic director of the Institute for Business in Society, academic adviser for the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics and director of Darden's Doctoral Program. He is a member of the leadership track for the Academy of Management and serves as an adjunct professor in UVA's Religious Studies Department and the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. He regularly teaches and gives academic talks abroad in countries such as Australia, China, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland and New Zealand.
The co-author of five books, Wicks has published extensively in journals and has received numerous awards for both his research and teaching and is frequently quoted in mainstream media such as Bloomberg Businessweek, Financial Times, Fortune, NPR, Poets & Quants, Time Magazine and The Washington Post. He holds a B.A. from the University of Tennessee, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.
“We eagerly anticipate Dr. Wicks joining us for Parents Weekend to share his unique view and experiences, and engage the community in conversation about decision-making in pursuit of the good life,” says the Rev. Edmund K. Sherrill II, Church Farm School Head of School. “We are certain it will be a very thought-provoking event, particularly for our 180 students who are just starting to ask these questions about themselves and society.”
We encourage others in the community to attend this event. RSVP to
